Smokey Quartz Cluster Necklace

Something new in my repertoire of hand-crafted wearable art! A gorgeous faceted smokey quartz pendant bead surrounded by dangles of smokey quartz Swarovski crystals and pearls with Bali spacers and round silver beads. The ends of the chain are a combination of alternating 4mm Swarovski crystal bicones and daisy spacers with a sturdy balloon clasp and closed jump ring to attach it to. The chunky pendant is flat on one side, faceted on the other. I've attached a bead cap and tied in six dangles around the connecting loop. It hangs just below the hollow of the neck and would look smashing with a vee-neck top or dress. Here's another view of the necklace, and another just to show the gorgeous color.

Treat someone special to this one-of-a-kind gift or buy it for yourself.

The necklace is 19 1/2" inches long.

Note: Smokey quartz is a brown to black variety of quartz caused through the natural (or artificial) irradiation of aluminium-containing rock crystal.

The color of smokey quartz is variable from brown to black and sometimes smoky gray colored specimens are included as smokey quartz. The cause of the color of smokey quartz is in question but it is almost certainly related to the amount of exposure to radiation that the stone has undergone. Natural smokey quartz often occurs in granitic rocks which have a small but persistent amount of radioactivity. Most smokey quartz that makes its way to rock shops and to some gem cutters has been artificially irradiated to produce a dark black color. Natural smokey quartz comes from many sources around the world. A few of the more noteworthy locations include Brazil, the world's largest supplier; Pikes Peak area of Colorado, USA, where it is associated with green amazonite; and the Swiss Alps, which has produced many tons of fine specimens.
