hand-crafted jewelry from beautiful Bonny Doon

Picasso Jasper Graduated Rondelle Necklace

Picasso jasper gets its name from the markings on the stone which look like brushstrokes. It is actually metamorphic limestone, is very easy to cut and shapes beautifully into jewelry. These stones range in size from 8mm to 14mm and are in shades ranging from camel to mahogany and mossy green--perfect for an autumn-toned wardrobe. I've strung tiny sterling daisy spacers between each gemstone and finished the necklace with a sizable sterling balloon clasp. Thimble protectors keep the wire from rubbing and the crimps are encased in sterling cover beads. These earrings match the necklace.

Treat someone special to this one-of-a-kind gift or buy it for yourself.

The necklace measures 18 3/34 inches.

Note: Jasper was a favorite gem in ancient times and is referenced in Hebrew, Assyrian and Latin literature. It is a massive, fine-grained chalcedony and comes in all colors. Much of the carisite jasper comes from southern Oregon. The name jasper comes from the Greek and means "spotted stone." In brecciated jasper the rich colors are swirled through the stone. Jasper is believed to protect against sight defects and drought. It is both stabilizing and healing.
