Belle Rustique

hand-crafted jewelry from beautiful Bonny Doon

Moonstone Designer Pendant

Gorgeous moonstones of any size are getting very hard to find. I managed to get this one in Thailand. It is actually a bead with a tiny hole hidden beneath the swirled topper. The stone has both fire and some translucency and looks spectacular wrapped in 14K gold fill (much heavier than plate). I've border-wrapped this beauty with 21 gauge square GF wire with half round wire for the side wraps. Get it while you can, because I may not find another stone like this. I've added a second image using a different background here. Both were taken under natural light on a cloudy day.

The pendant is petite, measuring just 1 3/4" from top of bail and is 7/8" wide.

Note: Moonstone is a feldspar mineral, a potassium aluminum silicate with a Mohs hardness of 6 to 6.5. It was named after its blue-white sheen which is caused by its lamellar structure. Moonstones are found in Sri lanka, Madagascar, Myanmar, Australia, India and the United States. It is considered a stone of mystery, a gem of the high priestess.
