Serpentine in Stichtite Pendant

This gemstone is serpentine in stichtite, the purple being the stichtite and the dark green being the serpentine. The two are often found together and may go under the name Atlantisite, particularly when the stones are mottled with the green serpentine and the purple or lavendar stichtite. A third combination, when mixed with quartz, is called "Peace Jade", but that's another story. I've wrapped this domed designer cut stone in 21 gauge square sterling silver wire. I hope you like it.

Treat someone special to this one-of-a-kind gift or buy it for yourself.

The pendant measures 2 1/8" from bottom of stone to top of bail and is 1" wide.

Note: Serpentine gets its name from the somewhat mottled and scaly appearance. Stichtite is a hydrated magnesium chromium carbonate material, pinkish purple, not unlike the lighter shades of sugilite. It often occurs with serpentine and its most abundant location is near Dundas on the island of Tasmania.
