Carnelian Druzy Freeform Pendant

red-line.gif

Carnelian is an orange-colored variety of chalcedony, a mineral in the quartz family. This particular stone has a shaded bands forming around a druzy "island". The stone is very thick, measuring a full half inch. It has been minimally wrapped in silver craft wire to secure the stone. Note: craft wire may be silver plated but is not sterling. Though the stone is magnificent, I have priced it accordingly. A double-stranded top bail is large enough for most chains. Enjoy this most unusual stone!

Treat someone special to this one-of-a-kind gift or buy it for yourself.

The pendant is 2 1/8" from bottom of stone to top of bail and is 1 1/2" wide.

Note: Carnelian is an orange-colored variety of chalcedony, a mineral in the quartz family with a hardness of 7 on the Mohs scale. Carnelian differs from Jasper, another member of the quartz family in that the quartz in chalcedony is arranged in fibrous layers rather than the sugar-like grains of jasper quartz. In ancient times, the wearer of carnelian was believed to be given courage in battle. Some timid speakers wear it to increase boldness.

Enjoy this unique piece of hand-crafted jewelry.
