This Freeform Indo Agate has lovely brownish bands across a grey-white background that is partly translucent and is faintly reminiscent of Botswana agate. It was cut in Bangkok by my friend Nate Sills. The cab is domed and has a beautiful polish. I've border wrapped it in 21ga sterling silver wire and finished the piece with a double swirl, my signature topper. Enjoy this one-of-a-kind piece of wearable art. A sturdy hidden bail will accommodate most chains.
Treat someone special to this gift or buy it for yourself.
The pendant measures 2 1/8" from top of bail and is 1" wide.
Note: Agate is a form of chalcedony, often banded, that comes in an amazing variety of colors. It forms by filling a cavity in a host rock. Although agate is found all over the world, the most exceptional specimens come from Southern Brazil and Northern Uruguay. Brazilian agate is mined from eroded lava beds in the Brazil plateaus. This agate displays a rainbow of colors primarily derived from iron. The colors are usually reds, browns end yellows in multi-layered bands and plumes. Intricate whorls and eye patterns also identify this gemstone.Agates have long been thought to cure everything from emotional pain to insomnia. As for Indonesian agate, a law will soon go into effect not allowing the mass sale of fossil material outside of Indonesia. Only finished products will be exported, making the Indo material quite rare. Much of the material is quite rare now. It has to be dragged over roadless land, and polished with Banana leave. There is litte lapidary equipment there. Yet many of the cabs have a perfect polish.
