Lucky Strike Designer Agate Pendant

This gorgeous stone comes from the Lucky Strike Mine northeast of Prineville, Oregon. It is one of the few pay to dig mines, also a place to find thundereggs. This designer cabochon was cut by Gerard Scott Designs in Sylmar, CA. It features a lovely mauvy pink translucent background with smokey purple-brown plumes. The top is very slightly domed and has a high polish. Because it has flat sides and is 5.5mm thick, I have wrapped it in six strands of sterling square wire, then added my signature topper. The hidden bail will accommodate a large chain.

Treat someone special to this gift or buy it for yourself.

The pendant measures just over 2" from top of bail and is 1" wide.

Note: Agate is a form of chalcedony, often banded, that comes in an amazing variety of colors. It forms by filling a cavity in a host rock. Although agate is found all over the world, the most exceptional specimens come from Southern Brazil and Northern Uruguay. Brazilian agate is mined from eroded lava beds in the Brazil plateaus. This agate displays a rainbow of colors primarily derived from iron. The colors are usually reds, browns end yellows in multi-layered bands and plumes. Intricate whorls and eye patterns also identify this gemstone.

Agates have long been thought to cure everything from emotional pain to insomnia.
