Shattuckite/Chrysocolla Designer Cab

Often similar to turquoise in appearance, chrysocolla usually occurs as a bright green or bluish crust or as compact grapelike groups in copper mining areas, particularly Chile, the former USSR and Zaire. This lovely gemstone is a deep, almost lapis blue with bands of light blue-green, a few whitish dots and a bit of black matrix sprinkled here and there. The stone is thick, slightly rounded and the finish more satin than glossy. This specimen comes from South Africa and was cut and polished in Michigan. Shattuckite is quite rare and this is a fine gemstone. I've border-wrapped it using six strands of sterling silver square wire and added a double swirled topper with tiny claws. A sturdy bail will accommodate most chains. Enjoy!

Treat someone special to this one-of-a-kind gift or buy it for yourself.

This pendant measures 2 1/4" from top of bail and is slightly over 1 1/4" wide.

Note: Chrysocolla is a copper bearing mineral found wherever copper deposits occur especially in areas of the southwestern USA, Chili, Zaire, Australia, France and England. Shattuckite is found near the copper mines of Bisbee, AZ as well as in South Africa. The combination is very beautiful and said to be extremely healing.

Enjoy this unique piece of hand-crafted jewelry.
