Belle Rustique

hand-crafted jewelry from beautiful Bonny Doon

Shattuckite/Chrysocolla Designer Cab

Here's another shattuckite pendant set which I've made for the same customer. This particular stone was also cut by Sandra in Michigan. It also is a deep lapis blue with a bit of turquoise and brown. The stone is thick, slightly rounded and freeform in shape. The finish is more satin than glossy and its origin is South Africa. Shattuckite is quite rare, originally discovered in Bisbee, Arizona in 1913. This is a fine specimen. I've border-wrapped it using six strands of sterling silver square wire and added a double swirl and tiny claws. It was sold as a set with the pictured azurite and crystal earrings.

Note: Chrysocolla is a copper bearing mineral found wherever copper deposits occur especially in areas of the southwestern USA, Chili, Zaire, Australia, France and England. Shattuckite is found near the copper mines of Bisbee, AZ as well as in South Africa. The combination is very beautiful and said to be extremely healing.

It is hoped this unique piece of hand-crafted jewelry will be enjoyed by the lucky recipient.
