Black Plume Agate Designer Cabochon

This lovely black plume agate comes from Texas. It was cut locally by Calvin Fujii. Note the gorgeous plumes on a clear background. I've border-wrapped the stone in 22 gauge sterling silver wire and added my signature topper.

Treat someone special to this one-of-a-kind gift or buy it for yourself.

The pendant measures 2" from top of bail and is 3/4" wide.

Note: Agate is a form of chalcedony, often banded, that comes in an amazing variety of colors. It forms by filling a cavity in a host rock. Agate describes a variety of cryptocrystalline quartz whose forms include layers of different materials, from translucent to opaque, in a wide variety of colors. Moss agate is a colorless, translucent chalcedony containing visible impurities that form dendritic shapes resembling moss. Agates are found throughout much of the world; the most famous mining of the mineral in Germany’s Nahe Valley. It was highly valued as a talisman in ancient times and is said to quench thirst and protect from fevers. Ancient Persians used agates to divert storms. Some used agate to achieve success in international trade! Condor agate, one of the more prolific and flashy agates, is mined in Argentina. Plume agate is a special kind of moss agate with blooming masses of dendrites. Much of this material comes from Brewster County, Texas.
