Impression Jasper Pendant

Impression jasper is only one of the names for this gorgeous blue-green stone that resembles serpentine or sea and sand. This particular stone is a fat teardrop with varying shades of blue, mostly a rich turquoise/teal and some brown matrix. I've wrapped it simply with 21 gauge sterling wire and pulled double wires over the stone to make the design. The topper is a crown with all wires turned under. There's a sturdy hidden bail large enough to accommodate most chains or a leather cord.

Treat someone special to this one-of-a-kind gift or buy it for yourself.

The pendant measures 2 5/8" from top of bail and is 1 7/8" wide.

Note: Previously labeled variscite, this stone has proven to be somewhat of a mystery. We know that it is a natural jasper-like material, but no one in the market knows what to call it yet. Impression Jasper has become the accepted trade name, but the scientific name has yet to be identified. This stone has become very popular in the market for its beautiful green/blue color and sandy matrix pattern. It also may be found listed as Blue Sea Sediment stone or Aqua Terra Jasper.

Jasper was a favorite gem in ancient times and is referenced in Hebrew, Assyrian and Latin literature. It is a massive, fine-grained chalcedony and comes in all colors. The name jasper comes from the Greek and means "spotted stone."

Enjoy this unique piece of hand-crafted jewelry.
